RV Surge Protection, Choosing An RV Vent Cover And End Of Summer Savings!
Tips: Protect Your RV Electrical Systems From Voltage Fluctuations
Many people do not realize that a few seconds of faulty power from a power pedestal at the RV park or campground can cause serious damage to the appliances in your RV. Unfortunately, many RV parks and campgrounds do not have the most trustworthy power sources, and Summertime lightning strikes can also be a danger to RV electrical systems. RV Surge Protectors monitor the amount of power that is being sent to your RV, and they continually protect your RV and its appliances from surges, mis-wired electrical pedestals, high and low voltage spikes, and other miscellaneous electrical problems. It is smart to use a surge protector while camping so that you do not need to pay for costly repairs down the road.
Surge protectors come in hardwired and portable models. Hardwired models are permanently installed within the bay of your coach, and they automatically shut off power to your RV when voltage spikes and other problems occur. Portable surge protectors plug directly into the power outlet at the park, and they protect your RV in the same way that hardwired models do. The Most Important Factor In Replacing An RV Vent Cover
This Summer’s severe storms have caused damage from wind, hail and falling debris for many RV owners. One common part that may require replacement is your RV roof vent cover. You may know that most standard 14-inch x 14-inch RV roof vents are manufactured by only a few different manufacturers, namely Ventline, Jensen, Elixir and Heng’s. But knowing the manufacturer brand name of the actual RV vent and the year of manufacture of the RV vent is critical for determining the correct part when replacing a damaged RV roof vent lid, vent fan, crank or operator.
So how does one figure out the manufacturer/brand and year of manufacture? The year of manufacture is likely the same year that the RV rolled off the assembly line, unless the vent lid has been replaced since. The most important factor in determining the manufacturer of the vent is the type of hinge that you find on the original RV roof vent cover. That hinge will need to match exactly the hinge on the replacement vent lid. We recommend that you remove the old vent cover and/or take a picture of the RV vent cover hinge, and use the handy reference chart at HannaRV.com to match the RV roof vent cover hinge type with the information, helpful photos and diagrams. The chart also allows you to choose the correct RV roof vent cover for purchase by simply clicking the part number that is linked to the product page.
