HWH RV Jack Replacement Spring Reference Chart:
How often should I wash my RV cover?
There is no precise answer to this question since it depends on how much debris collects on your RV cover. ADCO RV covers resist moisture but excessive amount of dust and dirt absorb dampness and odors. Simply follow the washing instructions on your Class A or Class C ADCO RV covers when they appear to be getting dirty.
How does my RV cover stay secure?
Our ADCO RV covers secure snuggly into place using a weighted strap and buckle system. Ventilated side panels allow the RV cover to stay tight against the side of your camper while reducing the chance of billowing damage. Affixing our RV cover is easy, see our RV cover installation guide for more information.
How should I store my RV cover?
Our ADCO RV covers come with storage bags. The easy to use storage bag protects your RV cover from dirt, dust, and moisture. Simply fold your RV cover neatly and insert it into the storage bag for a space-saving storage solution.
If I forget something in my camper, will I be able to get to it without taking off my RV cover?
Yes. Our RV covers include zippered entry panels. Class C and Class A ADCO RV covers feature automotive grade zippers which glide smoothly along their track for easy access to the camper.
I like my RV cover a lot, but why bother with RV tire covers?
RV tire covers offer a fast return on investment for protecting a camper in storage. While full RV covers protect a larger overall investment, tire covers offer repeat savings by delaying and preventing tire replacement. Improper protection allows sun and moisture to rot and crack tires, requiring RV owners to spend money on frequent tire replacement.
When storing your motor home for extended periods of time, we recommend putting boards underneath your tires and protecting them with quality RV tire covers.
What are the benefits of a 5th Wheel RV Skirt?
Upon arriving at your campsite, 5th Wheel RV covers provide weather-protected storage space for the lawn furniture and toys which won't fit into your truck or RV. The area beneath your overhang is a perfect place to hide bikes and grills from the both passersby and the elements. The useful storage space can be accessed via the nylon zipper doorways on your 5th Wheel RV skirt.
Hanna RV carries 2 types of 5th Wheel RV covers; both our 236 inch ADCO 5th Wheel RV Skirt or our 266 inch ADCO 5th Wheel RV Skirt now include Free shipping on orders over $50.
Does DuPont Tyvek Fabric really make my RV cover better?
Yes. DuPont Tyvek Fabric is the material used in ADCO RV covers. DuPont Tyvek is durable and tough to resist weather and wear, while staying soft to the touch to reduce the damage from billowing or other impact. DuPont Tyvek Fabric doesn't scratch or scuff paint, making it an optimal material choice for Class C and Class A ADCO RV covers.
What are the new features on the latest line of ADCO RV covers?
Class A and Class C ADCO RV covers have undergone some improvements. Aside from incorporating an appealing multi-color design into the side panels, these RV covers now provide an unmatched level of protection. Additional vents have been added to reduce billowing, ensuring your Class C or Class A ADCO RV covers will fit snuggly against your camper without banging into the surface. The strap-and-buckle attachment mechanism has been simplified thanks to the addition of a weight underneath the coach. Tyvek roof panels now extend further down the sides of your motor home to protect awnings. Additionally, ADCO RV cover side panels now feature three layers of material.
What are those black streaks on the side of my camper? Will an RV cover protect against them?
Black streaks are caused by moisture combining with dirt, dust, and other debris and running down the vertical surfaces on your RV. The moisture culprit is usually rain or snow but can sometimes be humidity or dew. Black streaks can bake into paint and hard-to-replace decals. Perhaps the most troubling property of black streaks is the difficulty in cleaning them without damaging the finish or protective wax.
A quality RV cover defends against black streaks by providing moisture resistance and preventing sap, bird droppings, and other filth from collecting on the surface of your motor home. Hanna RV offers the best Class A and Class C RV covers from top brands like Camco and ADCO. Check out our full selection of RV covers including travel trailer covers, fifthwheel covers, Class C, and Class A RV covers of all sizes.
How do RV covers save me money?
RV covers are an investment in the future of your motor home. Quality products like Camco and ADCO RV covers are a cost effective alternative to expensive monthly fees for renting indoor storage. Class C and Class A RV covers guard against depreciation and protect the resale value your camper. They defend against damage against hard-to-replace camper accessories like plastic vent covers. RV covers also save time and money on washing and unnecessary maintenance.
Is it difficult to install or remove an RV cover?
No. Whether you are dealing with small models, like the 20-23 foot ADCO Class C RV cover, or our largest model, the 40-43 foot ADCO Class A RV cover, applying or removing the unit is as simple as cinching a few straps into a snug position. Well designed RV covers are a fast and easy, year-round storage option.
Will an RV cover damage the paint on my motor home?
Not if you choose the right one. The best brands of RV covers are engineered with your RV 's paint and finish in mind. Class C and Class A ADCO RV covers and Camco RV covers have been thoroughly tested to provide maximum weather protection to your motor home while minimizing the chances of scuffing, scratching, and denting.
When choosing an RV cover, how should I measure the length of my mobile home?
Simply measure your motor home from end to end, using the longest length. Be sure to factor in bumpers, ladders, racks and any other component requiring coverage. Class A and Class C ADCO RV covers feature an easy-to-use strap and buckle cinching mechanism, so choose slightly larger RV covers when in doubt. RV covers should fit loose. Hanna RV carries models as large as 43 foot class A ADCO RV covers to meet your year-round protection needs.
How do I wash my Camco or ADCO RV cover?
Much like camping tents, quality RV covers are made of treated fabric to combat moisture and the elements. Many soaps and detergents carry a risk of reducing some of an RV cover’s resistance properties. The DuPont Tyvek fabric which makes up Class C and Class A ADCO RV covers is no exception. The best way to wash away dirt and bird droppings is to drape your RV cover over a clothes line, spray it with water, and allow it to dry in the sun.

Can we use the camper trailer lights and plug in appliances on battery power only?
When not hooked up to campsite power and operating your camper on battery power only, you will be able to run your 12-volt lights. But, your outlets will not have power to operate anything you might want to plug in. If your refrigerator is electric only, it also will not turn on. But, if your refrigerator uses propane for power, it will run.

I am interested in purchasing a new trailer from Hanna Trailer Supply. What should I know before I pick up my new trailer?
We have come up with a list of frequently asked questions that we get from our new trailer customers. We have created this list of helpful trailer sales information that we give to customers when they buy a trailer, and we will continue to update it as we see fit.
Do I need to get license plates for my new trailer?
- A trailer with a GVWR under 3000 lbs does not need to be titled in the state of Wisconsin.
- A trailer with a GVWR over 3000 lbs needs to be titled in the state of Wisconsin.
- In order to get a title and plates, you will need to bring your bill of sale and Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin to the DMV.
- The DMV in South Milwaukee is a 5 minute drive from Hanna Trailer (Address: 1835 College Ave, South Milwaukee)
- Out of State Customers will need to bring their paperwork to the DMV in their home state. If your sales tax rate is higher than Milwaukee County’s (5.6%), the additional sales tax will be collected when you go to get your trailer titled.
A very important thing to consider when purchasing a new trailer is whether or not your vehicle is capable and set up for towing the trailer.
For example, we stock dump and equipment trailers that have a GVWR of 14,000 lb. In order to tow one of these trailers safely, you need to make sure that your tow vehicle has a 14,000 lb or higher towing capacity as well as a hitch, ball mount, and ball that are all rated for 14,000 lbs or higher. If your vehicle is not prewired with a factory brake control, our service technicians can install a quality aftermarket unit for you.
What should I know about brake controllers?
- Do I need a brake controller to tow a trailer that is equipped with electric brakes?
- Yes, to have functioning electric brakes on the trailer, your tow vehicle must have a brake controller. Many newer tow vehicles come with factory installed controllers.
- Where can I get an electric brake controller installed?
- Hanna Trailer Supply stocks aftermarket brake controllers, and our Service Department can install a new brake controller on your vehicle so that you can tow your new trailer safely and legally.
Frequently Asked Questions - Enclosed Trailers
Q. What screwdriver bit do I use for the eight point screw heads?
A. #2 square head bit.
Q. Why do I need to cross my safety chains?
A. To create a cradle to catch the trailer tongue if the hitch comes off the ball of the tow vehicle.
Q. Does the little battery on the a-frame of my trailer power the interior lights?
A. No, the breakaway battery triggers the electric brakes should your trailer become disconnected from the tow vehicle and the attached lanyard is pulled from its switch.
Q. Does the breakaway battery recharge from the tow vehicle or do I need to charge it?
A. It does recharge through the vehicle and you do not need to charge it.
Q. What powers my interior lights?
A. The tow vehicle when connected.
Q. How do I add shelves and where are the studs in my trailer?
A. The vertical supports or studs are typically located on 16” or 24” centers dependent on model. They can be seen or located using the screw pattern on the interior or exterior of the trailer. Keep in mind that they are steel or aluminum so you will require a self-threading screw. The wall cavity on some models is only 1” deep so keep that in mind when selecting a screw length.
Q. If I have a flat tire where do I locate the jack?
A. Once your trailer is securely blocked so that it cannot roll you can locate the jack either near the axle on the front to rear running main frame rail of trailer or directly under the axle beam if safely accessible.

I think my pop-up camper was made by Coleman, but how can I be sure?

Why should I have an extra crank handle?
Having an extra crank handle can be a life saver for you. When the time comes that you are getting ready for vacation and you are making sure the pop-up is packed and ready, you may not have the crank handle where it was supposed to be. If you have an extra crank handle in the garage or in your shed, you will not have any problem going on vacation.
How do I know which cable I need to replace my lift assembly cable?
To know which cable you would need for your lifting assembly, you will have to look in your owners manual, or you can call us at the store. We will need the following information to assist you:

Trailer Wheel And Tire Questions
How often should I check for tire wear? What should I look for?
Check for tire wear frequently in order to identify problems early. If the problem is corrected, you still may require new tires to avoid further complications. Be sure to take action and correct problems before mounting new tires. The following chart provides further detail on the causes of extreme tire wear, the recommended actions, and tips for what to look for to identify the tire wear condition.
Tire Wear Pattern Cause And Effect

Re-alignment and balancing to correct camber or make sure not to exceed axle weight capacity |
|
Toe-in | Incorrect toe-in | Re-alignment and balancing to correct toe-in
Cupping | Incorrect tire balance | Check bearings and balancing
Flat Spots |
Skidding and/or wheel lockup |
Adjust brakes and/or take action to prevent sudden stops and wheel lockup |
Where can I find the maximum load capacity and maximum PSI for trailer tires?
The following chart displays the tire size, load range, diameter, max load capacity, max PSI, as well as equivalent tire sizes. Locate your tire size to determine the max load and max fill for your trailer tire. When purchasing a new tire, please make sure that the tire you select is capable of carrying your required load weight. A weekly tire inflation check is recommended and should be checked while the tire is cold. Further recommendations and specifications are usually available on the tire manufacturer's website.

How do I know what bolt pattern I have for my trailer wheels?
How To Determine Bolt Pattern:
Match wheels to hubs by the number of bolts and bolt circle. To determine the bolt circle on wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure center-to-center on bolt holes directly across from each other on the diameter
On odd number bolt wheels, measure any bolt hole center to the point halfway between bolt holes on the diameter
|
We have created a Trailer Bolt Circle Template for your convenience. You can download the file at:
/files/FAQs/TRAILER-BOLT-CIRCLE-TEMPLATE.pdf
Simply print the template on an 8.5" x 11" page, and make sure the document size is set to actual size. Hold the template up to the bolt pattern on your trailer wheel and match up the holes to determine the size.

Snowplows And Salters
Why Choose A SnowDogg Stainless Steel Snowplow?
Shopping for snow plows for your commercial or residential plowing needs can be tricky. Many features of modern snowplows are built to look attractive, but offer little value when plowing through a big Winter storm at 3am. Hanna Trailer Supply is here to help point out the primary features that make high performance SnowDogg Stainless Steel plows the envy of the snowplow manufacturing industry. Browse this year's inventory of SnowDogg by Buyers Plows and SaltDogg by Buyers Salters and conquer Winter's worst conditions often experienced in the Midwest and Great Lakes.
The number one factor that influences snowplow performance is the snow plow moldboard skin material. So, what's the difference?
Painted Steel Moldboards used to be the only option for most snowplows back in the early days. They were an inexpensive solution as far as the initial cost is concerned, but the long term costs later became apparent. These types of plows became famous for "browning", when their original color may have been red, yellow, orange or another brightly colored plow.
This was due to plowing operations performed in a wet, salty and dirty environment. Special primers and premium paints are no match for these common Winter elements. When paint becomes worn or chipped, the material underneath will eventually rust away and become unrepairable. Your only option is complete replacement when this happens.
Polyethylene Moldboards were developed as a solution to the issues experienced with painted steel moldboards. Polyethylene plastic had been used for years as a moldboard material for municipal plows and therefore seemed to be a natural replacement for painted carbon steel. The biggest asset for using polyethylene in plow moldboards is that it never rusts. However, polyethylene has several major flaws when used in real world plowing situations. It is not very strong or rigid, requiring a thicker skin and heavier frame in order to provide the same functionality as thinner steel or stainless steel moldboard skins. In addition, polyethylene cannot be repaired when broken or cracked, leaving complete replacement as your only option if damaged. Regular sunlight exposure can also fade the polyethylene color, which can become a serious issue for many plow owners.
304 Stainless Steel moldboards have been rigorously tested and performance evaluated in salty and wet environments. This has proven to be the ideal material for plow moldboards. The hard, strong, slippery surface of 304 stainless steel will not rust and maintains its surface finish. The surface of the moldboard skin can be restored to brand new condition with a simple, good cleaning, and it can easily be repaired by welding if damaged.
What is 304 Stainless Steel?
There are several different grades of stainless steel. 304 (also known as 18/8) is a non-magnetic stainless steel alloy with 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel. This gives it a very high level of corrosion resistance. There are less expensive grades on the market with lower nickel content that provide some corrosion resistance, but significantly worse performance in real world salt water environments. Some, but not all of these inferior grades are magnetic. 304 stainless steel maintains its surface finish and color, and it is never magnetic. Buyers uses only 304 stainless steel in all of its stainless salt spreaders and snowplows.
Why isn't everybody using 304 Stainless Steel?
304 stainless steel is very expensive, usually about 3 times more costly than carbon steel (and up to 50% more expensive than inferior grades of stainless steel). When Buyers released the SnowDogg line in 2006, there was only one other major truck plow on the market with a stainless skin that was priced quite expensively. Since 2006, with the introduction of the SnowDogg plow, most manufacturers have begun advertising stainless or polyethylene snowplows as a premium product, but at a premium price. Their carbon steel plows remain as their entry level offering at a much more affordable price, though at a price still generally higher than that of the SnowDogg plows.
How can Buyers sell a stainless plow for less?
Buyers Products began over a decade ago, marketing SaltDogg stainless steel v-box salt spreaders at a lower cost than existing carbon steel spreaders. Just 6 years ago, Buyers Products brought to market the SnowDogg snowplows with the 304 stainless steel moldboards at less cost than existing carbon steel moldboards. This has been done because Buyers Products buys more 304 stainless steel than all other snow removal product manufacturers combined. Buyers Products runs a factory that runs non-stop all year round manufacturing snowplows, salt spreaders, toolboxes, towing products, reservoirs, lightboxes, kingpins and several other products. This was done to split the cost of overhead between thousands of 304 stainless steel manufactured products, not just SnowDogg snowplows. Buyers Products is a privately held company founded in 1946, which holds no debt. This means that there is not any debt interest built into the price or their plows. The price of the plow is based on straight cost of manufacture and delivery. Buyers products remains vertically integrated and buys the 304 stainless material directly, cuts it, forms it, welds it, paints it, assembles it, tests it and ships it all from the same facility.
Besides the 304 Stainless Steel moldboard skin, what other characteristics set SnowDogg plows apart from the competition?
EPDM rubber edge guards between the 304 stainless skin and the powdercoated moldboard frame provides extra strength and a snug fit, which eliminates looseness and noisy rattling that you might find on a less quality "floating skin" plow.
The #4 brush finish on the front face provides a shiny and attractive, yet durable finish. 304 stainless steel is a hard impact, low friction material and doesn't gouge or scratch easily. It allows the snow to simply roll off the ultra smooth 304 stainless steel surface, preventing the possibility of snow or slush from grabbing into any surface defects.
Finally, the eye catching finish of the 304 stainless steel moldboard matches well with the color of any truck and provides increased visibility for others in bad weather or while plowing. The 304 stainless steel finish will never fade or wash out.
The 304 stainless steel skin material is just one factor when selecting a plow. SnowDogg by Buyers plows are designed from the ground up as a tough, simple, cost effective solution to the plowing needs of America's plow operators, contractors and homeowners. Call (414) 762-7950 or stop by Hanna Trailer Supply at 7575 S. Howell Avenue in Oak Creek, WI and see for yourself why SnowDogg plows are just right for your plowing needs for the upcoming Winter snow season.
Trailer Brakes And Brake Parts
How would I know when to replace my trailer's electric brakes or brake parts?
Sometimes repairing a brake can be too time consuming and expensive to be practical. In these cases, we recommend replacing the complete assembly. Hanna Trailer Supply is your best resource to find your replacement brake assembly, individual brake parts, new brakes for a trailer build, or if you are in need of brake service and repair.
When To Replace Brake Hardware:
- When worn or weak return springs cause the brake linings to drag against the drum, replacement is recommended. This can lead to total brake failure if left unchecked.
- When hold-down springs lose their tension, the brake shoes will wobble or ride up against the face of the brake drum, replacement is recommended. This will cause brake lining failure if not resolved.
- When an adjusting screw is frozen and does not allow brake shoes to be adjusted properly, replacement is recommended.
- When rubber dust plugs crack from age and wear, they allow dirt to contaminate linings. Replacement is recommended.
- When the self-adjusting cable is stretched preventing the self-adjusting lever from properly aligning the shoes, replacement is recommended.
Selecting Electric Brake Parts:
- Determine the size of your brake.
- Measure the diameter of the mounted brake shoe.
- Measure the width of the lining.
- Determine the manufacturer of your brake.
- Select the brake you have by looking at the key identification points shown in the drawing below.
- A Hanna Trailer Supply brake specialist can also help you find the brake assembly or part that you need.
When selecting new brake assemblies, you can determine the right or left side brake assembly on the shelf by positioning the brake with the magnet at the bottom. On electric brakes, the actuating arm will always curve from the pivot pin to the magnet, toward the left for left hand brakes and toward the right for right hand brakes (See Below).
Useful Brake Control Information
Below you will find a few helpful charts from Hopkins Towing Solutions®. The first chart shows you how to connect your new brake controller to your vehicle based on year, make and model. The second chart shows the trailer weight limits at which you are required to have a braking system in every state across the country.
